Coco’s Story
As told by her mom, Yixiang
Here’s Coco’s story, in her mom Yixiang’s words.
Coco, a small fluffy white dog with curly fur sits on a couch, looking toward the camera. The dog is wearing a red bow with a pearl in the center on top of its head and is resting beside a pink crocheted blanket.
Vets in Vans saved my fur daughter, Coco. She had started peeing more frequently and had blood in her urine. We had recently moved from the East Coast to California and had no idea which veterinary clinics to trust in the area. At one vet office we visited, Coco was diagnosed with a bladder stone and told she needed surgery to remove it—but the cost was very high.
Luckily, I came across Vets in Vans through an online post. We took Coco to their Alameda site. After reviewing her medical records and examining her, they provided a very reasonable estimate and quickly arranged her surgery.
At first, I declined the stone analysis after surgery. However, before the procedure, Dr. Huang personally called me and patiently explained why identifying the stone type was important—so we could understand what caused it and how to prevent it in the future. Her explanation convinced me. On the day of surgery, when we dropped Coco off, the staff clearly explained the price ranges depending on surgery time and medication use, and we paid the minimum estimate.
When we returned in the afternoon to pick Coco up, Dr. Huang explained that the surgery was straightforward and required less time and medication than expected.
Coco recovered very quickly and is now a healthy, happy girl again. Two weeks later, I received a detailed email from Dr. Huang explaining the stone analysis results, the possible causes, and clear recommendations to prevent this from happening again in the future.
You can truly feel how much Vets in Vans cares about animals. As stated in their mission on the website: “Supporting the human–animal bond by providing equitable access to compassionate veterinary care.” That is exactly what they do.”
