Penelope's Story

Penelope is a 10-month-old outdoor community cat with a dedicated caretaker who looks out for her every day. One morning, Penelope came back with a fish hook lodged in her mouth. Her caretaker rushed her straight to the Vets in Vans clinic, worried and unsure what to do.

After examining her, we determined she’d need anesthesia so we could safely remove the hook. We added her to the surgery schedule that same day and were able to remove the hook and clean the wound. Penelope went home with pain medication and antibiotics—and a very relieved caretaker.

We’re grateful she’s healing well and that we could be there when she needed help.

A gentle reminder: please pack up all fishing gear when you leave. Items left behind can seriously injure wildlife and pets.
